Intiface
Basic Engine
If you just want to connect RUMP to Vtuber software, you shouldn't have to do anything here. RUMP comes with its own built-in Intiface Engine, and will automatically start it up and connect to it when you start RUMP. If you see the green dot next to Intiface, you shouldn't have to do anything else.
However, more advanced users who are familiar with the Intiface ecosystem may run into some limitations with the built-in version. For those people, RUMP also includes the option to connect to an instance of Intiface Central instead.
As a general rule of thumb, if you just want to connect Vtuber software and nothing else, using the built-in Intiface is fine. If you're hoping to connect physical hardware to RUMP along with your Vtuber software, it may be worth using Intiface Central instead, as it's better at managing hardware connections and has more up-to-date protocol info.
Intiface Central
Intiface Central is an excellent tool for managing both Intiface connections and physical hardware connections. But if this is your first time using it with RUMP, you will need to add RUMP as a custom device, which takes some configuration.
First-time setup
-
Install Intiface Central v2.6 or above from the Intiface website.
-
Open up Intiface Central. If the Status line near the top says "Engine running, waiting for client", hit the big STOP button next to it to stop the engine.
-
In Intiface Central's
App Modes
settings, scroll to the bottom and turn on theShow Advanced/Experimental Settings
switch. Then scroll even further down and turn on the newDevice Websocket Server
switch. -
Next, you need to add the custom hardware definition to your user devices config file, which by default is located at
%APPDATA%\Roaming\com.nonpolynomial\intiface_central\config\buttplug-user-device-config-v3.json
. There are two ways of doing this:- If you don't have any custom user devices config, then you can just use the premade
buttplug-user-device-config-v3.json
file included with RUMP at INSERT LOCATION HERE. Close Intiface Central, then paste RUMP's config file into the Intiface config folder, overwriting the default one. - If you do have custom user config data already, you'll need to add the RUMP device config from RUMP's premade file into your Intiface Central
buttplug-user-device-config-v3.json
. If you've been customizing your user config file, hopefully you already know how to do this!
- If you don't have any custom user devices config, then you can just use the premade
How to Connect
Once you've made the necessary config changes, connecting to Intiface Central is pretty easy.
-
In RUMP, go to the Intiface panel and hit Disconnect to shut down the built-in Intiface Engine.
-
Now you'll be able to use the dropdown to switch from Built-in Intiface Engine to Intiface Central.
-
Open Intiface Central, if you haven't already, and hit the Play button to start its engine.
-
In RUMP, enter the hostname for the Intiface Central server, and then hit Connect.
-
You should be good to go! RUMP should show up on Intiface Central's list of connected devices, and you should be able to test it using the sliders in the Intiface Central UI.
